Any sailor can tell the wind-force by looking at the waves, like a farmer watches the trees. Weighing the risks, that is what insuring is all about.
About two hundred years ago, admiral Francis de Beaufort grasped the relationship between the swell of the sea and the power of the wind. He developed a twelve-point scale to define wind-force. Today, the Beaufort scale is still universally used, and helps predict the risks of undertaking a sea voyage.
Our company does the same. As insurance broker we act as intermediary between ship owners and operators on one side, and insurers on the other. Our task is to provide insight into risks and securities for both parties. That is why the name and colours of Beaufort Insurance BV – since 1998 – fit us like a glove.
